In addition, Rudedog has mentioned that Dell's most critical data runs off a Tandem (Compaq) system.... Your points about reliability and RAS are key and in addition to the I/O capabilities are what really make the IBM machines stand at the top of the heap. I don't know what machines Intel runs on these days, I do know that when I was working at IBM Intel was a customer and we did get calls from them. It will be a LONG time as you say before the large corporations put their big databases and most critical data on a new machine architecture. They will want to see NT debugged, and as reliable as their current systems, if not better.
