Rex ------------------------- Revised Margin Requirements In order to reduce exposure to our customers and the Firm, Discover Brokerage is evaluating and adjusting our margin maintenance requirements for certain securities. Adjustments to our margin policies will be announced as they occur. Please be sure to check this area periodically for updates. Margin maintenance requirements are set by the rules and regulations of the New York Stock Exchange and other regulatory agencies. Individual firms may and often do increase the requirements at their own judgement and discretion. Margin maintenance requirements may change without prior notice. Review of margin requirements is quickly becoming the norm in our industry. We hope to protect our customers, as well as Discover Brokerage, with these measures. Discover Brokerage has revised the following margin requirements: Effective January 19, 1999, all stocks priced at $7 and under per share will be subject to a 100% maintenance requirement. Effective immediately, a concentrated security (that is, a security that constitutes 50% or more of the equity in an account) will be subject to a 50% maintenance requirement. Effectively immediately, initial public offerings cannot be margined for 60 days after their initial trade date.
