slim, i suspect it will undermine it. recall the euros are used to loads of arbitrage amnongst their currencies and they would use gold as fungible parking spot while they waited and played with the relative values. Now this will stop and the ties will stop currency runs and thus less need for gold as a hedge. If the nasdaq craters this will make the asians buy gold as they recover. Japs are buying now, Chinese and Indians will follows soon aalong with the rest of them by summer?? Bill
