The war is over in the enterprise side. IP QoS will battle ATM in Service Providers networks.

If IP QoS can achieve ATM like QoS, then ATM at the core will be replaced with Packet over Sonet and Packet over DWDM technology.

Don't hold your breathe though. IPv6 is way too complicated to replace the millions of installed routers. ATM has at least 10 years of life in SP networks, IMO.
