Reg:

None. Yer quite right on the money on this point. There are some nice pluses such as being essentially land based, and the potential for significant tonnage but other than that not a lot. Diavik has committed a lot of resources to the project to get it this far, they will go all the way on that one. Any mine potential that develops at Snap will just have to wait its turn in the process and you can bet that as each successive mine gets its approval it will become increasingly more difficult for the next one to obtain approval (long convoluted story there).
Keep in mind that the BHP/Diamt Ekati just produced a very large diamond of 47 carats from what is considered to be a medium grade pipe in comparison to the Diavik pipes. There will be some real wondeful surprises once the ore starts coming out of mill process for the Diavik pipes. Yes WSP has a 10.87 carat stone, but they are a long, long, way away from a mine yet. ABZ is getting some residual action on the WSP exposure, its just cheaper to be in WSP at this point.

Gotta run.

Taz

Hi reg,
RTZ has expanded thew Argyle open pit diamond mine. I suspect that they have enough production of relatively low quality diamond at this time. Perhaps Diavik will get developed some day, after Argyle is depleted and acording to RTZ's schedule (whatever that might be-will we all live long enough?). Afterall, even Wallmart can only sell so much "Indian Trade Goods". As for ABZ going after WSP? What Winspear shareholder in his right mind would want to accept the dilution????especially with all the inherent project risk attached to open pit mining a pipe full of relatively lower quality diamond, in a lake, of all places. It would be a great deal for ABZ shareholders though.

teevee
PS. A NL writer named Madel? has recommended selling WSP since $2.00 and switching into ABZ. He thinks there is less risk in Snap Lake by owning ABZ because you get Diavik with the ABZ share.
