The guy is a dork if I may say so. (How do you spell 'dufuss' anyway)<vbg>

Happy New Year Kemble:

I have been reading that John Dorfman guy for a few days, the man comes across to me as a dork (If I may say so) who seems to have no idea what is going on around him, it is as if he is oblivious of the paradigm shift (huh? I hate these newly coined business moniker by some guys from Harvard and Wharton or was it the Kellog boys) taking place in the world of business. I think the man is desperately in love with book values and P/Es-IMBECILE.

>> Here Are Some Stocks to Take Your Profits In: John Dorfman<<

There is no easier way to truly describe this author other then he is a perfect asshole who wishes that he had invested in those stocks which he now is criticises. It is frustrating that people of his mediocrity and under performers get so much media attention.

Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year 1999

Frank

Kemble,
Hi! and Happy New Year!!
This guy, John Dorkman (sp?) <ggg> sounds like another Bill Flunkenstein....and you know how right he's been!<VBG>
Great investment method...take the best managed companies in the highest growth sectors and....sell??....I don't think so!!....where do these guys come from? Aren't you glad you don't have to make a name for yourself by always being the "outlier"!!
Best,
Steve

Hi Kemble- Who is John Dorfman?

Thanx for the article.

I did some research on John Dorfman and found no entries on him on the WWW. I did find some posts with his name in the text and links to arcticles he authored in the oil threads and others on SI. He is Boston-based money manager with Dreman Value Management in Jersey City, New Jersey, according to other posts on SI. He has had other similar mentions in posts on SI indicating his bottom fishing and oil investing tendencies and his no-fly zone attitude towards tech stocks.

He probably knows a lot about the oil industry. I don't think he is educated on the technology industry. He admits in one of his articles earlier this year that his reason for thinking that oil should go from $11 to $15 a barrel may be influenced by his %15 portfolio's investment in the sector. That is more honest than a lot of other fund managers with a major media mouthpiece.

I am curious what motivates him to continue with his oil investments. Has he been doing it for 20 years and it is just his thing.... he makes a living at it and why change? Or did he just start and thought the oil sector was the place to make money and the tech sector was too richly valued? More research for me.

Jon :)
