Market Strategy (everything is now in place except for the UFOC, now that's a go!!)

Each proposed office will represent a major urban area. Before any new office is opened, proper research must be done to ensure that the proposed new office and the business will comply fully with all local regulations, statutes or by-laws, especially in the areas of securities, franchises and business licensing. Once these matters have been identified and conformed to, the marketing strategy of the company will be as follows:

Set Up Phase

Map the metropolitan and surrounding area
Rent an office complete with telephones, fax and access to a boardroom
Run an ad in the local newspaper
Receive phone calls from interested parties responding to the ad and schedule them to attend a seminar
Conduct the seminars in a boardroom to explain the system of computerized home shopping to consumers and register any interested parties to become area distributors.
Pre-Start Up Phase and Training Phase

During this phase, The General Store office provides the computer system with the software to area distributors. Other responsibilities of the office during this stage are as follows:

provide software training to the distributors
communication and support training
co-ordinates the distribution of flyers
Full Operation Phase

During this stage, the office will be responsible for co-ordinating the delivery of catalogues to the end consumers and ensuring that the system and concept is fully implemented.

Regional Offices

The role of a Regional Office is to source national suppliers for products, deal with government officials at both the Federal and Provincial/State levels, and target the direction and growth of the company in that region to ensure that each city has a fully operational distribution system. Regional Offices also:

Help prepare flyers and catalogues for distribution
Obtain the necessary funding should it be required
Evaluate new areas where markets may exist
Area Representatives

The role of an Area Representative is to act as an independent operator in an order taking capacity. Additionally, the Rep is responsible for making sure that the company's consumer catalogue and any flyers or promotional material from the suppliers are distributed in their area. A Rep is assigned an area of approximately 500 homes (on average) pursuant to a territorial agreement. These areas of 500 homes are based on the divisions of postal walk maps. This is done so the company may later distribute flyers to the consumers through the mail system. A Rep uses a computer to set up files for each customer who will be placing an order. Using sophisticated proprietary software developed by the company, the Rep's files are then downloaded to the local area offices and then relayed to the appropriate regional office for processing.

Home Delivery

The company has developed its own home delivery distribution in the form of a fleet comprised of identical delivery vans. Each van will display the company colors and logos to create a strong corporate image. The vans are a part of the warehouse delivery and distribution system in terms of maintenance and other operating costs
