Wise words! I have seen the same problem on the AMAT thread
a few months ago: some of the best informed posters missed the
stock's surge, because it wasn't logical.>

Yeah, but when you read a great post like the one Gus just made, it's all worth it.

By the way, it's already 1999 here, and I can assure you it's started out as a good year. But for those of you who are lagging behind in North America, I wish you all a great New Year. :o)

Regards,

Mark

Let's not delude ourselves into believing we are well informed. We have only a few industry insiders (far fewer than I would expect). We are often the last to know as with the disasterous overcapacity which ran us over a year and a half ago. Looking at the CPQ thread, I found no fundamental info on how Christmas sales have been- just a bunch of cheerleaders and technical analysts. If big PC inventories developed over Christmas, that will be the most important development and, I for one, won't know until its too late. I'm very envious of those insiders who have a clearer view of what's happening.
That said, its amazing how much less other investors know when they plop down hard earned cash and that analysts cover this $50 billion market like an afterthought. Good luck for '99! Z
