Murphy is way to early. Wall Street wants to wait until the Xmas #'s come out. If the hype is strong there MIGHT be a buying opportunity.
All I want is the volatility.
ps
Ebay's days are numbered. By next summer it will be a $50 stock.
I'll bet anyone on that.

There sure is a lot of ignorance of investment tax laws out there:

Murphy said market makers began to sell around midday Monday in advance of selling by individual investors, who could sell on Tuesday and have settlement of the trades at the first of the year for tax purposes.

Oh well. Investors who were ignorant enough to believe that their sales on Tues Dec 29th would escape the taxman will be stunned to see their 1099-S for 1998 includes sales with a trade date of anything in 1998.
