Micheal,

Yahoo groups are generally hype and BS. However, regarding CIEN it is easy to see that they have great technology and CSCO feels they need CIEN from time to time if you look at the partnering deals. I think there is a deal for CIEN in the next year. I alos think that TLAB is still a possible suitor. They walked from the table amicably and TLAB price now would allow a less dilutive stock deal allowing CIEN the majority of their $40 ambition.

I am long CIEN in several accounts and look to add to position this coming week. January effect could take us back to low 20 range without merger; but, this is a longtermer for me and looking for $30+ in 1999.

CIEN's biggest challenge is maintaining a breakeven for next 6 months as they position themselves. With $250M in cash, no debt, technological strenght, and decent management - contrary to popular opinion I know - CIEN is a great buy and bet to pull ot off. Remeber ASND was all but written off a year ago by the so called experts and look at them now!

Cheers!
