"Most of of today's volume, which was about twice normal, came in the last hour of trading (as did 7% of the 8% price increase). I don't see sunshine, I see superior knowledge: those who knew the AGM/EGM results before the rest of us bought in anticipation of the buy-back's resumption."

I, too, see superior knowledge. In my experience, whenever Creative has made a move like this, particularly in such a short time at the end of the trading day - there *is* a reason for it. However, I disagree with your suggestion regarding the AGM/EGM results. If there was ever a "sure-thing", it was the results of those meetings. Having said that, I still don't know what it was that made it move like it did, but we'll probably find out soon enough.

While this may be total hogwash, I found it more than a mere coincidence that both CREAF and TDFX both exploded at the same time on Friday, i.e., within the last trading hour. My guess is that this buying spree was probably related to some mgr who follows this sector and who decided to take a position in both at the same time. The question is why did he/she choose to do so at the last minute of the last day of the year.

Thread,

The TA service, "Second Opinion", has been recommending long CREAF since 11/02. Here's the (completely ambiguous) narrative from 1/4/99, FWIW:

COMMENT

Moving Average Convergence/Divergence (MACD) indicates a BEARISH TREND
Chart pattern indicates a POSSIBLE TREND REVERSAL
Relative Strength is BULLISH
Up/Down volume pattern indicates that the stock is under DISTRIBUTION
The 50 day MOVING AVERAGE is rising which is BULLISH
The 200 day MOVING AVERAGE is falling which is BEARISH

RECOMMENDATION

STOCK SHOWS STRONGLY DETERIORATING CONDITIONS SCORE = -3
IF YOU ARE LONG; CLOSE POSITION OR MONITOR STOCK CLOSELY
STOCK IS NOT A SHORT SALE CANDIDATE
