For what it's worth, my mother-in-law is a bonds expert and knows much about fannie mae. Even she thinks fannie mae is in seriuos doo-doo. She says they've extended their loans to a bunch of crappy low-income, poor-outlook areas in the midwest that foretells a risky future for them. Fannie mae is not the place for her and over 90% of her money's in bonds. That's scary.
