August, I share your frustrations with Ameritrade, but I'm not as frustrated. Perhaps it is because I use only the internet site. It is true that it is often slow (especially at the open) and sometimes down altogether (though that has happened only about 1/10 times for me so far). I get pretty good execution and the service people have been polite and helpful when I have needed them--usually, getting through to them (800-669-3900) within a minute of so. They did explain that there are federal (?) regulations that require a 10-day holding period when transferring accounts from one brokerage to another. My only comparison is SmithBarney. The problems I had there were the cost of transactions, the feeling that my broker was somewhat interested in churning and also that he asserted a proprietary interest over the account. The last got my goat the most and contributed to my making a few poor decisions. ANYWAY... I am also interested in AMTD as a possible investment. So, I wonder whether there is an investor relations person and whether they would be interested in suggestions from users, what their immediate plans are for their servers, etc. Looking over their stats on MSN Investor, they did not look too bad, especially if they will be an internet survivor. Comments? Bruce
