Thaks for your response. This is what I thought. It seems to me that the hardware guys can cut installation time down by a very large amount. This will be the natural progression and it will come soon.

You are right:
So, there will still be potential problems in homes where the coax was shoddily installed by the builder, or spliced and split to death by the homeowner.
It's my guess that eventually the cable installers will even get this down so it is a quick operation (if it looks bad, just replace it). I bet they will get house installations down to 1hr and almost zero in houses with good connectors.
