To draw a contrast between the years of 1996, 1997, and 1998, a comparison of 1993 to 1995, a two year period, is made. Many of the stocks were not listed in 1993, but by excluding those from the group of 41 that were not covered, a partial comparison of the group is made. How different this period looks! Out of the 21 stocks covered, all made substantial gains over the 2 year period. You didn't have to be a stock-picker to make money. It helped, however, to make extremely good money. 15 out of the 21 stocks had gains of over 100 percent. All but 1 had gains over 50 percent. The sum of the group prices gained 124 percent.
