You will find a lot of those companies have deals with Microsoft as a lot of hardware companies do too. That is what I see MS doing in desperation is making deals with hardware suppliers to block other OS's as HP has done with some of their equipment. There is no real reason for software to be more expensive in Linux except for the fact is is much tougher to write in X than in MSWindows and the market is smaller. That is anothrer good reason to go to my GUI concept of true client server driven window manager that is independant of the X paradigm, has OS control of windows instead of program control and passes through the old X code.

Why would anyone need antivirus software for Linux?
I guess it's that expensive because it's really hard
to find viruses for Linux!!! Afterall some windows
users dont differentiate much between microsoft and
freesoft.
