Yes? Not sure what you mean by the 12M volume esecurities.

First of all NASDAQ double counts volume. That is: When I sell one share of stock and you buy that 1 stock of share, nasdaq counts that as 2 transactions and 2 shares. So u have to halve any nasdaq volume to get the true number of shares that "exchanged hands"

Second, many shares could be traded 5 or 6 times in 1 day
Look at NAVR chart for the past 6 weeks and its volume.
It has 6.6M shares in its float.

On 11/27 it traded 21M shares
On 11/30 it traded 30M shares
On 12/07 it traded 13M shares
On 12/08 it traded 12M shares

There you have an example of the entire float changing hands more than once on 4 different days. All it is, is daytraders trading amongst themselves.

Or you can take the recent Skymall

On 12/28 it traded 28M shares

It's float is 2 M shares

Crazy isn't it...
