I am suggesting that our government has gone way beyond the principles upon which it was based to an extent that threatens its very existence. The Constitution has a provision in it that allows it to evolve over time called "the Elastic Clause". When implemented this pseudo-clause reifies as constitutional amendments. This permits the people to vote an amendment that says, "the Constitution of the United States is null and void". Thus, the Constitution provides for its own destruction. We are the only nation on earth with this prerogative. It implies that anyone can do whatever they want unless others have the power to stop them. So our government's true core principle is might makes right. The Greeks would vomit.

This core principle is seen all the time when power has pull. The guy with the big bucks chooses the restaurant and the others avoid conflict because big bucks buys. Some government of, for, and by, the people.
