cm- You have to go tough love. You have to cut him off financially. All of you. Otherwise he is never really losing ANYTHING! It is an addiction, and you and your relatives who are still giving him $ are being his ENABLERS. He will NEVER hit rock bottom unless all funds to him cease. He has to, he HAS to experience real LOSING, not being able to feed himself, rock bottom, etc. I know it is hard not to help with money, but you must know it's NOT helping, it's like giving booze to an alcoholic. Cutting $ off cold from all of you, and like you said GA will help him. BTW, my mother (actually I've always been the parent)is an alcoholic who has never had the discipline to quit, at the age of 65. I am the only one of her four kids who maintain a relationship with her. You can easily have better luck than I though- Your situation sounds similar. It's hell to go through, I'm sure, but call the toll free information line for businesses, (1800-555-1212) ask for GA.
