It seems there is always a way out doesn't there? I mean a way to keep a slight bit of hope alive.

Vice-Mayor of Beijing Leads New Year's Check of Auto Emissions

BEIJING (Jan. 1) XINHUA- Beijing Vice-Mayor Wang Guangtao led a city-wide inspection today as new municipal auto-emission standards came into effect.
Cars not meeting the standards will either be forbidden to enter the city or the driver's license will be confiscated.

Together with officials from Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Administration and traffic control office, Wang Guangtao inspected several major Beijing intersections.

Among the 124 cars randomly checked during New Year's Day, over 80 cars failed to meet the new standards.

Serious air pollution has been a daunting problem for Beijing, with auto emissions a major contributor. The Beijing municipal government established the new municipal standards last November, more stringent than the national standards, as an attempt to tackle the problem more efficiently this year.
