True. The long term trend follows company growth. It isn't difficult to determine whether some company will grow between time A to time B. It is impossible to calculate the path, because the process is stochastic, it jumps all over the place and only asymptotically approaches the minimal continuous path between A and B. Trying to guess the random fluctuations has defeated everyone. It is a negative expected return game. The more you try, the higher is the probability that you will approach the expected return which is negative. If you don't attempt that, don't trade, you then put the complement of the negative expected return, a positive expected return on your side, and it compounds. Thus I hold ATHM even I though I expect it is going to get slaughtered soon.
