Hi Ausdauer - The AT&T and TCI merger is what initially got me looking into this sector. Notice what TCI is now doing with RELTEC

09/24/98 RELTEC Awarded Project by TCI to Deploy Deep Fiber Solutions for Voice/Video/Data
(http://www.businesswire.com/webbox/bw.092498/817214.htm)

Here are some additional announcements from RELTEC
(http://www.businesswire.com/cnn/rlt.htm)

Who ever AT&T/TCI eventually select as the prime vendor for their local carrier loop equipment, will be a big winner. However, my observations indicate that both the RBOC's and AT&T/TCI are looking at several options and technology solutions.

It will be interesting (and quite profitable) to keep an eye on all emerging technologies and announcements. An investor may want to own a few of these smaller companies as their is no one "best" solution and the technology target is always changing.

AFC's products work with twisted copper pair distribution cables not coax so there is no benefit to AFCI in HFC network buildouts. If you are looking for a company that makes an HFC system look at ADCT.

I think that everyone needs to consider that AFC is not the only company around with an xDSL solution. I was at a conference recently where a telco rep stated that their company received 43 responses to an RFI they sent out for xDSL gear. 43!!!! Need less to say xDSL, particularly ADSL, is an extremely crowded space with lots of big boys playing too (LU, CSCO, NT, Alcatel, ASND, COMS, etc. etc.).
