To me, the question when an unfertilized egg becomes a fertilized egg becomes a fetus becomes a baby becomes a person is a meaningless excercise. The question that matters is what if any civil rights we give to what forms of human life at what stages of its growth or development. And why a given society chooses to give certain rights to certain forms of human life (fertilized egg, fetus, unborn child, baby half out of the birth canal, baby still attached by the umbilical cord, baby, child, teenager, adult, old person, male, female, jewish, black, white, etc., etc., etc.) Doesn't matter what you call it. Matters what, if any, rights you give it, and why you choose those rights but not other rights.
