I think that we agree that an all optical network while technically feasible will be a decent distance in the future due to the need for the internet as a whole to develop a broadband character and for everyone to reach the point where they can see that the investment will give a clear return.
I also agree that it is a forgone conclusion that broadcast televsion will be through the internet. Its only a matter of time before the internet in its various forms is the only primary means of communication replacing TV, Telephone & Fax, Newspapers & Magazines, and probably even Radio and all 2 way radio communications as well. World wide too. Think of all that bandwidth that could be reallocated to transmitting digital communications! And ATHM at the hub of it all.
Funny thing is that by then people will not be excited by the internet, just accept it as a way of life like we do with TV today.
