my cousin is a troubleshooter for amat. says he's worked with cymi for two years now. says senior brass at amat is impressed with cymi's technology, support, etc but due to lack of demand from customers, is keeping cymi at arm's length in terms of 99 commitments.

In what capacity has your cousin worked with Cymer as a troubleshooter for AMAT? AMAT doesn't make photolithography equipment. What types of commitments was AMAT expected to make to Cymer in '99? I'm very perplexed.

says the one cymi laser they have at the motorola plant where he works in AZ is in a little clean room all by itself and hasn't been used or tested since june.

So Motorola has a "little clean room" in AZ with a forlorn Cymer laser sitting in it all by itself? Is that the 90,000 square foot Class 1 clean room in Chandler or one of their older >0.50µm fabs in AZ that would never use a DUV stepper anyway? Seems like an awful waste of space, if it is the Chandler fab. What did they do with the stepper the laser came with?

Please provide more details at your leisure. I'm most interested in hearing more.

TIA for your help and more info.
