Rose, Rose, I read somewhere that 90% of the people who successfully quit smoking did so by going cold turkey. I don't know how true that statistic is but it makes sense to me.

Real deep down motivation I believe is the real key. I had wanted to quit two or three times previous to the time I actually made it. My final motivational incident went like this...

I had just bought a brand new car. Had it two days and while I was getting in the car my cigarette butt hit the edge of the car door and the smoldering end dropped on the seat. I scrambled to knock it to the floor but not until it had burned a hole in my seat! In a fit of rage, I grabbed the carton of cigarettes out of my glove box and stamped them on the ground, swearing that I would never again smoke the hideous things! I must have really meant it. :-)

I hope you can reach the final success phase without a hole in your car seat. :-)

I believe you're right about the habit issue. Really strange how that little stick can do that to so many people.
