Don, After you die, and stand in judgement of god, who is God protecting? Are you a danger to others at that point? so dangerous that God, who you state only acts perfectly, cant teach you a perfect way? John S. said that in a perfect world violence is not necessary. why then would God find not only violence, but torture as necessary in the afterlife? You speak of god protecting people from killers and rapists. what of the good man who has done no harm, but only believed another religion? Who needs to protected to the point that he must burn eternally? It is like killing a mosquito with a nuclear bomb. where is the justice and love in that? It appears to be a wholly inadequate and rageful answer to a less severe problem. Answer this, what aspect of non-belief is so worrisome to God, that eternal torture becomes the best answer? I would appreciate it, if you used your own words. mark
