Re Grouping Stocks in Permanent Directory Hi Julianne, Sorry if I wasn't clear. I just use the downloader to manually change the stock names to include a prefix PREC for precious metals, OILG for oil & gas, NETW for networking Stocks, BANK for bank stocks, etc. Then I just do a sort with the downloader. Nothing elegant or easy, but I only have 65 stocks and indices in my permanent metastock directory. I try to have at least a couple of stocks in each of my categories for comparison. Would be really nice if metastock added a 'comment' field that could be sorted. :-)) John
