Marty,

<<Seems to me that it is time for a strategic alliance with a partner that has the capital to fund the necessary R&D to keep up with IBM.>>

Don't forget Seagate and Fujitsu as well. They have huge budgets by comparison to RDRT. While SEG has not been especially noted for R&D they seem to be stepping up to the bar. The question to RDRT is how they expect to bring anything to the table when compared to the war chests of these much larger companies. What other forms of partnerships might we see? As far as I know no one has talked about "beyond GMR". Is it holographic or another form of recording? Ask them what will be the dominant recording technology 5 years from now and 10 years from now (and how they will fit into it).

Thanks Marty.

Best,
Stitch

Questions in general of which you might be able to glean a single question for the conference call.

- What is the arrangement for paying Lawrence Livermore and will they continue to use them? Do they have exclusive rights to all technology developed at LLL?

- Cluster Heads for Quantum's SDLT. Still on track? Any chance of selling heads for DLT? And the big one, and new programs for a Quantum disk drive?

- Last quarter they announced their first enterprise drive program. Have they gotten any new programs?

- How many GMR programs have they got? What customers are the most aggressive about adopting GMR?

- Last quarter they mentioned an increasing head count per drive possibly attributed to selling a larger percentage of higher end heads. Any changes in this trend? What is their experience with average heads per drive?

Also, I'll link my notes from last quarter's CC which might stimulate some questions about their projections. Message 6118989

Mark
