nicholas,

for this particular system , the original signal was for it to cross the signal line. you may find an acceleration at the 0 line because it is a technically valid signal as well. the objective here currently is to catch the turn of the macd, not to wind up with a double or triple knee. thus i don't think there is a need to require a second knee for that purpose. a second and third knee would indicate to me a stalling almost week long base by the time that happens. it doesn't mean it won't break to the upside while putting in those knees. yes, the stops are there to assist in your decision making/money mgmt. it is a mandatory part of any system to be able to define the risk involved. you may not agree with the knee of the macd as a signal. all i'm discussing for the first time is a system that appears to have potential. the turn of the macd will require more risk, for potentially more reward, so why not protect the downside? the original signal was the cross of the signal line, this type of risk reward is new to the system. this type of usage is nothing new. it is discussed in a book by elder, "trading for a living", (which btw, would be my recommended reading for fla). this aspect of his writing intrigued me since the macd is a fav of mine, but some might argue in its original form, late to the party.
most that i have learned and sometimes have to be reminded of comes from doug. i just got to tinkering, ya know...
