Thanks,

Economic cycles seem to be compressed from several years to 3 to 6 months.

The European Central Bank will almost certainly cut interest rates soon again. So I think Greenspan will have his job done for him and not raise rates.

There is no problem with fleeing to the Euro, but from a portfolio investment point of view to people outside Europe it will make no difference to having been in Deutschmark or Francs up till now as I see it. The Bundesbank has basically been running the show in conjunction with the ERM and the EMU convergence criteria up till now. Now it is set in stone for ever but it doesn't change much.
