Good post Sam. I was thinking about this a lot over the Holiday. I was particularly struck by that post where Emile called non-believers "the Living Dead." It shows just how easy it is for rabid Christians (not the run of the mill, easy going Christians, who don't take it too seriously- and who would be lumped in with the living dead by their more fervent brethren) to depersonalize the rest of us. To see us as much less than they are. We are lost souls, the living dead, pagans, atheists, all these words help those rigorous Christians feel the human separation between them and us. We don't call them globally inclusive names. We use adjectives (like rabid, for example) but I think WE still feel their humanity while I wonder if they feel ours?

Sam,
<<You professed
Christians have been waiting 2,000 years for a Jesus that was supposed to come
save you and will be waiting throughout eternity for a man who never existed. >>

He's already saved me and He's been saving people these last 2,000 years of the church age. I wait for His second coming when this age will come to a close and God's work will take another step towards it's perfect conclusion.
