You hit the nail on the head. Goldbugs think the next disaster that will drive up is just around the corner.
Who's to say that the Y2K problem won't dampen inflation further and gold won't be seen as a haven.
On the other hand, if one thinks commodities may have bottomed. That's a better reason for buying some oil or gold stocks now.
