When you consider the massive power that it takes to shoot Volcanic material through hundreds of K in quick order and at the pressures that are being contemplated the flapping up of the cone sheet is just the last gasp at the end of a long journey, and sounds very plausible to me. I'm still interested in the questions raised by Vaughn some weeks ago as to why there doesn't appear to be any leakage out of the Snap Crackle fault ?? Hydraulic pressure we have to remember is effective over the whole area of the flap, which would be about 12 million Sq m based on you figs. So if you take the weight of your bowl shaped flap and divide by the area I's sure the answer would be within the limits. The next question is where was the venting taking place that put an end to the movement???

PS come to think of it it's conceivable that the expansion into the gap as the sheet formed might be enough to do that by intelf without any further vent to atmosphere.
