I don't know what age you have to be to join SI. I do think it should probably be eighteen, because the older members are quite uninhibited in their conversation. Maybe you could send Jill an email and ask her.

I agree that you should not buy presents that you would not like yourself. The candles from the Body Shop I bought fell into that category, definitely. I am a little puzzled about all the gifts you buy for your dentist, the video store people, and your haircutter. Maybe that is a small town tradition, or maybe I am really cheap, but I feel like I pay my dentist tons of money to take care of my teeth, and tip people like haircutters generously throughout the year. Have you thought of buying or making something for all of these people that is a lot less expensive? It's really the thought that counts, anyway. Like maybe you and S.J. could bake several kinds of cookies and put them on pretty paper holiday plates. Really, I would get the total cost of all these gifts down to about $20.00 per year, so that you will have some money left over for the special people in your life.

Okay, well, we will talk about this again next December!

MSB,

Did SI lower the age limit which used to be 18 to become a member? Also, whats up with "(coffee shop)" after the name? I've seen this before, but can't figure out what the deal is. Is it that these members can only post in these places or something else?

Just passing through, Terms of Use 5.1 says you must be 18, but that is not strictly enforced. There is a 14/15 year old running around on some of the penny/micro stock threads.

Also, the (coffeeshop) you see is from temporary/trial members that get access to SI through the main Go2Net site I believe and they can only post to Coffee Shop threads. It actually only shows up on the post for actual members, If you ask one of them about it, they don't know what you are talking about.

Best regards,
