<And it also contains some original ideas. The concept of forgiveness, for example, first
made its appearance as a spiritual tenet in the Bible. This is a monumentally profound
idea that I have never found in any other spiritual text that predates the Bible.>

Forgiveness is a very old tenet, and definitely appears in Buddhism, which predates Christianity. It is hard to imagine spirituality without forgiveness, and I suspect it is a basic human intuition in anyone who is reasonably healthy, psychologically speaking. The fact that some of the ancient pagan religions may not have had chapter and verse that has survived certainly does not mean that they did not practice it as a spiritual tenet, or forgiveness started with Christianity. Also, forgiveness in what sense? Certainly there are whole groups who were not/are not forgiven because they are different somehow. Many of the Christian sects are extremely unforgiving, now that I think of it.
