I read that MSFT is one of companies rumoured to be bidding on a cable operation in the U.K. (newsalert.com) It could only have a positive effect on the stock since price is only about 200 million (pocket change).

I think MSFT has to go after cable companies any chance they get. The big cable co's don't want MSFT to dominate their markets and are reluctant to give them much control (remember the set top box deal in which SUNW and MSFT each got a piece of the pie). Therefore they have to purchase -- and i think that is what they are doing. Bill Gates has been frusturated with the slow internet access speeds.

They may want to ensure their currency does not rise against the US dollar because it would hurt exports
I think they will inflate more than we to cover their welfare state expenses. That is the is the reason for the fall in the Canadian dollar against the US. How will it affect the Market? It will cause the Asians to move back to more Dollar reserves after an initial move to the Euro. The strong Dollar is good for the Market. Initially, the Dollar may move down as the Asians buy Euros for reserve.
