John-- that sounds like a corp. Y2K coordinator trying to take inventory verification shortcuts. Personnally I believe he would be better off sending his inventory to EDS or another firm for confirmation. It also sounds like he is late. You could suggest a strong Fix on Failure (FoF) policy and one hell of a Readiness and Recovery program. That sounds most appropriate as it sounds not only late but with zero funding also <gggggggggggggg>.
