i disagree. tomorrow is specail and even if it was not, it does not help. history never has to repeat or not repeat itself. right?

lots of growth funds will be buying. many small guys will be taking profit. funds will buy as the mony flows in.

If Dell is any indication there has not been a special selloff from profit taking at the start of each year. I do not know why AOL would be any different.

Will that help ? I have the data but isn't AOL going thru a significant phase. The inclusion makes it a "special" category stock.

Chinmoy - Here are the stats :

January :

1 Greatest concentration of turndowns since 1949 occured in the months first 6 trading days.

2) More Dow points gained than in any other month

3) Low priced stock beat quality in the early weeks of the year

4) Worse 5 Dow stock average 4.8% gain in the last 2 weeks of the year throughout the 4th trading day of Jan over the last 22 years.

5) January barometer has a perfect record in odd numbered years.

6) Based on S&P index, most years (except 70, 78, 84, 94) have followed suit for a 90% batting average.

7) Top 28 Januarys (except 94) had gains of 1% and launched best market years. Only 1 good year (82) followed a Jan loss.
