Don't think it's his ISP disconnecting him. It's the box you get when you close an online app. It thinks just because you closed something, you want to disconnect. Very annoying. Try going to preferences in your browser and on the connection tab check "connect using a lan" instead of modem. Of course you'll probably have to start your connection manually now, if you were used to just opening your browser and having it dial automatically.

Thanks, Mark, thats a great site. No, I don't use AOL and didn't have any of those problems with my other computer, so I fear its a conflict somewhere, but I can't see where. I was using Win95 until a couple of weeks ago.

There are so many new features on Win98, that I am going through all of them and seeing what Dell has put all of the settings at. I am basicially down to the bare bones at the moment.

The computer came with win98 already installed, so if I have to, I will uninstall and do it over again. I'm afraid at this point I have nothing good to say about Win98.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone..
