Hello Paul, > Hope you are getting some sleep and doing better with your cold. It's getting there ... hasn't been fun. I got to spend our shutdown/vacation being sick ... > The Novell facility in San Jose sounds like workers paradise. I > know that a friend of mine, single, who works for 3COM eats all > three of his meals in the company cafeteria and tells me that they > prepare meals to very high nutritional standards. Very Good for the > single engineers who cannot cook. The building really is a great facility. After working at and visiting many other high-tech companies, I can say that Novell finally caught up. I would have to say that with the food they are serving, I could see why people would eat multiple meals a day at work! > Did they have tatsoi and arugula? Oh no ... I'll have to say that I"m not good enough at identifying all of the foods ... ;-) > I hope they stock some of that non-alcoholic wine that they sell in > Utah.<ggg> Although the beverage selection is quite large, I'm not sure they stocked the non-alcoholic wines or beers ... now I know what to write on one of those suggestion cards next time I'm in San Jose! > My apologies for my contributions to the anti-personnel campaign > going on here. Don't worry about it ... I noticed that everyone seemed to be getting a little "heavy" lately and it was a good time for everyone to lighten up. I believe that Novell seems to be on a good tack, and heck ... the market has been doing very well. I'm still worried that there is a correction that is going to occur on *some* high tech stocks ... I keep hearing rumors on the threads of a mid-year high tech correction ... I just keep kicking my self for saying "Yeah ... Yahoo rules ... but they have no revenue model ... their stock can't keep going!" ;-( (kick ... kick ... kick ...) > Given my feelings about the bubble we are in, I play it very > conservatively. I don't want to risk that kind of capital in this > market. I've stuck to buying and selling options. (Using short > positions to protect my call gains.) I agree that although I am bullish about much of the market, I just can't understand the way some of these other stocks are moving. I've been trying to decide if we have really reached the true "hype factor" market. Where enough individual traders, who know very little about the technologies, are simply trading based on the hype of the name! If so this would be the most incredible form of the "Nike effect" that I think we will ever see. If the balloon bursts on some of the overvalued stocks I think many people will think twice. I'm sure it will make for some interesting reading in the history books! > Certainly hope you got some of those $8 employee options!!! I've been buying Novell since I returned to work two years+ ago ... and I'm glad that I did. (This is not investment advice of any kind! I simply believe that I have to put my money where my mouth is!) Every single month, every single paycheck, both through the company and on the open market. I've had faith in what was possible, and where the company was going. (Well, ok ... during the previous management there were days of hesistation ... ;-) > Here's hoping the first quarter is a good one. Likewise! I look forward to the next ~360 days of 1999 and what will occur! > Regards, > > Paul Scott C. Lemon
