McMannis - Re: "ho do you think AMD will service first? Loyal customers or a "Johnny- come-lately"? "

That wasn't the question.

The question was - 'What PC companies have ENDORSED the K7 - i.e., announced their intention of using the K7 in a product '?

Jim, The large channels like Dell and gateway demand deeper discounts. AMD has found the SD shop market is both wide and deep and can take lots of parts and will pay a better price, part of this of course supports the sales effort, but there is lots left over. Another problem with those large accounts is if they quit you lose 2M chips. The small accounts are a sea of buyers and they look for the lowest end parts to beat the dells with on performance and upgradeability.
I am constantly surprised when I see people buy Dell boxes, boxes they can never upgrade mboard wise.

However once they get bit they buy the next one from a SD shop.
Businesses often stay with dell boxes as they keep them for the life of the box as it is just a wordprocessor etc in most cases.
