Thread:

This is the only item I've seen to explain the recent strength ( from 'Company Sleuth'):

" The 3DO Company  (THDO)

Date Broker Comment
12/29/98 Wedbush Morgan reiterates buy, share up over 30% yesterday, believe spike driven by cos purchase of shares & intro of first two nextgen console products"

I suspect, though, that there is more to the story because this broker has been rating THDO a buy all year without notable effect.

Jim> Thanks for the info, I'm just wondering that since this area is so competitive, that the large block purchased might be an indication of what Hawkins might be anticipating. It seems to me that if it were my money I was betting, I would realize that I couldn't be real sure to what degree I would be successful in the marketplace at any given time, but I might be able to have a lot more control concerning the timing of a sale of the company. 3DO is a small cap company with some products and talent that a larger player might find attractive. Call me crazy but it seems like this has been a very popular strategy in the last few years. duckster
