Al and all, Got home today and what a white welcome indeed! I had to turn the thermostat on a few extra degrees and crank up the humidifier to reduce the sudden atmospheric shock <GG>. Tried to move some snow off the driveway and they must have been sitting there rock harded for weeks. I put the shovel away. Another traveling tale - have you heard of any airline as incompetent as Continental who could not put checked-in luggages on the same planes together with the luggage owners? When I left three weeks ago, none of my 4 checked in luggages arrived with me. When I arrived this morning, only 3 of the 4 made it back with me. That gives them a luggage handling failure rate of 5 out of 8 (62.5%)! To be even more laughable, one of my luggage did not even make it out of Cinci with me three weeks ago. The other three got lost in my first transit point at Houston Intercontinental! Don't follow Continental Airline as a stock but this is definitely a potential short. I will see how they handle the missing luggage situation. If they can be like DELL which completely changed my mind of their competence and later made me a fan, I will keep Continental on my short screen. DELL - Now I understand why DELL is selling computers like hotcakes in economically troubled Asian countries. They simply have executed their US model to perfection in every single country they do business in. If you think the DELL ads in the US publications are ever-present, wait till you go oversea. The striking thing is there is absolutely no difference in the ads except the money amount and a few local favorite hardware choices. Other than that, I can buy a DELL anywhere and expect a similar quality like I would expect a Big Mac from McDonald. Jan Effect - the DOW certain timed it right and showed me a good start to the new year. When I left, I only held four stocks for likely Jan effect and am glad they turned out as planned. SEV was threatening to keep crashing below $5 when I left and now they are about 9. My vitamin portfolio (RXSD, TWLB and NBTY) also did not disappoint. The real surprise was a long shot good-till-cancel order on ATW triggered for me and this alone is close to paying for my trip. The drillers rallied nicely today and I see many breakouts to prices not seen in months. RIG is again the leader. While they are definitely tied to the oil prices, I think this latest breakout may have some room to go as the Jan effect (not fundies) can still carry them. Will scan the entire driller list to find relative "values". If someone has done some homework here already, please share. It will take me at least till next Monday to get back into investment shape. Please feed me some nice stories if they have been identified and I will run some TA on them. Al - will tell you about CPLY later. Also, no longer on the free-surfer list of ATT. Signed up with Megsinet today. Have not noticed much difference yet. I haven't read through any of the posts yet but I bet LT is still wearing shorts searching for Gold-en opportunities <GG>.
