nice cash per share, low float, growing chain of hotels, and in the process of a stock buyback. Near its 52 week low.

John Q. Hammons Hotels owns, manages and develops affordable upscale hotels in capital city, secondary and airport market areas. JQH owns and manages 45 hotels in 20 states. For the nine months ended 10/2/98, revenues increased 8% to $243.4 million. Net loss before extraordinary items totalled $1.4 million vs. income of $3.4 million. Revenues reflect increases in average room rates and total number of available rooms. Loss reflects expenses related to new hotel openings.

book value 2.75
cash per share 7.63

trading at 3 3/4

price/sales 0.07

outstanding: 6 million
float 3 million

in the process of a share buyback also, could be 20% of the outstanding float.

Open question to thread: T-Mex says he is coming out with a hot pick on Wed., but have any SA members made any money, let alone lost, on any of his picks in the last month or so? Nothing against Joe, but it seems that his picks lately are coming up a little short. I know I have stopped playing them and other members have too, just too hard to get out of them making any real money.
