Paul, 2M cache does NOT add significantly to system cost, maybe $10 at most. K6-3 is 15% faster than PII clock for clock and it only loses 2.5% to 5% of this advantage with a normal 1M L3 cache. (Ref: 206.132.42.114

I just bought a new 1M cache Super7 motherboard for $69. That includes A3D positional audio and all the connectors and brackets for USB and PS/2, usually an additional $10-$15. The infrastucture costs for Socket 7 are extremely low, still lower than Socket 370. The SiS motherboards with decent 3D video (not great, about equal to an i740) and sound are coming out now for peanuts.
