Jpegs are smaller than GIF's on photographs. Not on charts, drawtings, cartoons, etc. Try for your self and see. GIF charts are typically 1/3 the size of Jpegs.

Hrm, yes; the size differential is greatest on photos. I have some line-drawings of things in both gif and jpeg, and the jpegs are not much smaller, but they are smaller in all but a few cases.

I'll have to experiment with MS charts though; I may have some pathological cases here.
