Skeeter:

The niners didn't win by cheating...they were helped to their win by a bad call from the officials...just as Green Bay was helped in one of their wins over the niners. If I ever wanted to rig a game, I'd go after an official...they make less money, and have more influence over the outcome than any player. Not that I think that game was rigged...I don't, but I do think the officials "gave a helping hand" to the Redskins the season they won the Super Bowl, which was when the league was up for congressional review for anti-trust exemption...or maybe it was just a coincidence.<G>

A while back I asked about a site for lowest priced books. This month, a Fortune article talked about Buy.Com. They have the cheapest books and videos and software, etc. They guarantee it. Fortune had an interesting piece about Buy.com. They lose money on every item they sell. They plan on losing money for quite a while. They want to guarantee the lowest price and they'll eventually make money through advertisements. So, they say. Who knows. Just an interesting thought and an intriguing argument for losing money on e-commerce. The whole idea behind Buy.com is to bring customers to the site. No ifs ands or buts. They'll sell it cheaper than anyone. That's good enough for me. I'll go research elsewhere and buy it from them. Any thoughts from the brains here?
