I did not know that- what an interesting little tidbit. Maybe some psychological implications in that? Provided lots of people know. Go forth and spread the word.

where have I heard that before? (G)

to be honest... in a real top, I don't think anyone gets a queasy feeling. That's why it is a top. The queasy feeling comes later and much lower.

Kip -
The chart is giving indication of topping out and is slightly negative. However, there is no strong negative divergence. I am waiting for a double top, a negative MACD or Stochastics divergence for a real power move to the downside. The weekly chart is turning down but not decisively.

Overall, it is negative, but not as decisively as it was last August. I think this down move will not be as severe as last August-September. Perhaps only a 10% to 15% correction, max.

One indicator I use for total froth of market top is the activity of the real penny stocks (zombies). Perhaps internet stocks may have replaced the pennies, but not quite the same. For sure, I noticed that some of the bigger zombies have started to stir.

All this will take time. My projection is June-July period for the real power correction.

Fred

God, this market feels like it's topping out,

That is a very tough call Kip.

What I'm really hoping for is that the Dow may settle down a bit and consolidate while the small caps broaden out general support.

The RUT looks like it is trying to move to higher levels.

I'm thinking that some of the bigger cap money may head for Europe to participate in the Euro love-fest, weakening support for the Dow 30.

In 1999, small caps should perform well, unless we have developed an systemic bias against any institutions investing in them.

Regards,

Ron
