There is nothing fundamentally wrong with HD. Just profit taking after a huge run up that has it over extended.

On a Point and Figure T/A chart HD posted a 3 box reversal which presents a buying opportunity for long term holders. We need to hold $58 and then move higher. Your Jan options might be in danger unless we see a monster rally this week.

Robin,

To the extent you can attribute HD's Jan 4th price action to anything, pent up selling pressure from holders who were waiting for the new year before realizing capital gains is probably as good an explanation as any. That said, at 60 times trailing eps and 45 times forward estimates it is not exactly a stretch to think HD is as much as a year or more ahead of its fundamentals. Even with 25% growth and the possibility of additional kickers from margin improvement, $60 bucks is already off the scale absolutely and relative to HD's historical metrics. At this level I would bet on $50 before $70. Sorry to rain on anyone's parade. HD is a great company with a skilled management team and a great future. Just a rotten valuation.
